Gender Identity Is Actually

Not That Hard To Understand

I hate those videos of conservatives “owning the libs” by asking someone “what is a woman” The only reason it seems like they won is because they asked someone who was not prepared to answer the question. If Matt Walsh or Charlie Kirk asked me “what is a woman” I would be able to provide a proper answer.

Most people don't realize they aren't disagreeing about a difference in ideas. The argument is simply about semantics or meaning of words. You can't even begin to debate ideas when you don't have the same understanding of words.

Before:

- The word "gender" was used to describe the concept of biological sex (male or female).

- The idea of "gender identity" (man or woman) always existed, but people rarely talked about it.

Now:

- The word “gender” refers to “gender identity”, (man or woman)

- The term “biological sex” refers to “biological sex” (male or female)

The confusion stems from the fact that the new idea “gender identity” got attached to an old word “gender”. And the old definition of the word “gender” is now only referred to as “biological sex”

So when people say gender they are thinking of the old definition of “biological sex” and not realizing that it no longer applies to that word.

The concept of biological sex didn’t disappear just because it got unassigned from the word gender. It still exists we just now have to refer to it as the term biological sex.

Gender identity exists. We just now apply that concept to the word gender.

Everyone has a biological sex and a gender identity.

You can be either a Male or Female sex.

This is something you are born as.

You can have the gender identity of Man, Woman or Nonbinary.

This is something you identify as,

If I was asked what is a woman I would answer with this: “a woman is the gender identity of someone who identifies as a woman. That person has a biological sex of male or female that they were born as, but they also have a gender identity of man, woman of nonbinary that they choose to identify as.”

That’s it, it’s that easy. Both concepts exist, both are valid. Both a relevant at different times at different places.

To the people who have close minded friends:

Try to explain to them the new redefinition of words. To be fair, it would be a lot easier if a previously never talked about concept “gender identity” got its own term such as “gender identity” and the definition of biological sex could remain attached to the word gender. Then this would be soo much easier for everyone to understand. But the way it was done is very confusing for a lot of people. You’d be surprised how many people aren’t bigots and actually agree with you if only someone explained this concept properly to them.

To my close minded friends:

I know this stuff usually is explained in a confusing way, but here you have a clear explanation of it. It's not that difficult to update your understanding of how the world works and the words we use to describe it. Yes you are justifiably upset about a new concept being applied to an old word instead of getting it's own, but that is just something you need to get over. This is the dumb way the world chose to apply these meanings to words.
